Prometheus 6 (P6) was nice enough to share his discovery of the BBC’s 1Xtra music site. I’ve spent the whole day bumping their content. This, in my opinion, is what radio is supposed to be. They’ve archived a gang of different shows, across a variety of genres — R&B, Drum & Bass, Garage, Dancehall, Hip Hop, etc.
They’re even nice enough to provide track listings for the songs in each set. But the best part is all the special packages they have. Like the one P6 pointed to with Roy Ayers DJing and giving us an insight into his history and views on music. Next week Roni Size takes his turn in the Basement. I can’t wait for that show because it was Roni’s music that got me into Drum & Bass. They also have a tribute to LTJ Bukem on the D&B page. (If you ever get a chance to see Roni, LTJ or Suv live, don’t sleep, go to the show! Assuming you like D&B, of course.) In short, there’s a ton of good sh*t over there.
